This Thursday the East Coasts largest 1-day street fair once again returns to Mechanicsburg. Every year we train on Jubilee Day specific operations in preparation for this event.
This training prepares firefighters to operate in and around the event and its associated road closures. Due to limited access, firefighters are forced to advance long hose lines to the event from alleyways and side streets.
Tonight was our third and final Jubilee Day training of the year. 50 firefighters from MFD, Hampden Township Volunteer FD, Upper Allen Fire Department, and Monroe Fire Company participated in a Jubilee Day fire operations overview followed by two “run-in” scenarios. These drills simulated a fire during Jubilee Day within the event zone.
Jubilee Day is an important event in Mechanicsburg, and the Mechanicsburg Fire Department takes great pride in ensuring the safety of our citizens and the anticipated 60,000 Jubilee Day attendees.
