On 12/16/2021 the MFD and surrounding mutual companies were dispatched around 22:30 hrs to The Gingerbread Man in the borough for a reported building fire. Chief 329 (Captain Bixler) arrived on scene with a 3 story mixed occupancy structure with heavy smoke pushing from the 3rd floor. 1st alarm units were quick arriving having just cleared a 1st alarm assignment in Hampden just prior. The MFD was assisted by 1st alarm units From Companies 37, 23, 30, 31, and 25 in fire attack, ventilation, and search efforts. Crews discovered heavy fire and smoke on the 3rd floor. The 3rd floor was currently under construction making search and fire attack efforts difficult. Command 8 quickly decided a 2nd alarm was needed to assist. Crews were out for about 2.5 hours.
