New Names, Same Rigs

The Mechanicsburg Fire Department would like to introduce Wagon 29 and Tower 29.

While these two pieces of apparatus are the “same old firetrucks” that everyone is used to seeing, they now have new names thanks to a multi-county effort to more accurately identify apparatus through standardized unit designations.

MFD is proud to participate in such an initiative and looks forward to a greater level of apparatus consistency in the region. The unit type “Tower” indicates an aerial device that is a minimum of 75’ in length with an elevated platform. The unit type “Wagon” indicates an enhanced engine with greater minimum standards for pump capacity and hose complement.

Squad 29 will keep its name, as it still meets the requirements to hold the unit designation of “Squad”.
